Theme Sketch

Topic: Theme
Diversity: There are multiple "races" in this book who have obvious differences in physical and character traits, but those differences can bring out hidden traits in others and challenge others to change and rise above.

Curiosity: Curiosity gives motivation to explore the unknown of God's creation

Fear of the Unkown: Fear of the Unkown can be the fire that fuels ones motivation for adventure, you never know what's coming (the fear), but you can't stop it from coming so we must take the opportunities we're given.

Adventure: Hobbits are not known to go on adventures and Bilbo eventually accepts his fate and goes on the adventure. People do things out of their comfort zone all the time, and we must accept these opportunities.

Bravery: Bravery is a persons will to stand up for what they believe in even if they are fearful of the result. So, Bilbo is presented with these expectations from Gandolf and the dwarves, and even though he doesn't see these traits in himself, he acts bravely and rises to the occasion.
