- This section was kinda slow after they escaped the goblins
- Every charge tour represents some kind of life happening
- Gandulf is like the adult figure
- Bilbo is kinda like the older child
- The riddles with golem is very fun
- He got crazy from the ring...the ring makes people "greedy" and they don't want to tell about it
- The shadow still shows from the rings invisibility
- Invisibility - what would you do if you were invisible
- There is no honest way of using a ring and he uses it to give himself false hope because he tells everyone that he got past people but really he just used the ring and took advantage of the group
- Bilbo is still kind of childish
- The eagles are cool
- All of the different animals speak a different language and the eagles can speak the same language as the legs so its like a good vs evil thing cause the good is all together nd the evil is so separated
- We talked about different languages and how people can switch languages in an instant
- The buttons were funny cause he made a huge deal about them
- Beorn is really funny he is always around
- Orcs and goblins are related/allies
- Since gandulf is a wizard hy doesn't he just teleport them
- Was bilbo selfish not sharing the ring with the group
- Do the different races represent races in society
- Did the author related the groups to his experience I. WWI like hobbits are France and gandulf is America because he bailed him out
- Will the journey back be the same

Annotations #1 Mike
Why do hobbits dislike adventure?
Why did Gandalf choose Bilbo?
How did the elves know Bilbo's name?
Why is everyone in a hurry to get to the dragon?
How does Gandalf get everywhere so fast?
How does the crack in the wall seal up after the goblins leave?

Theme Sketch
Topic: Theme
Diversity: There are multiple "races" in this book who have obvious differences in physical and character traits, but those differences can bring out hidden traits in others and challenge others to change and rise above.
Curiosity: Curiosity gives motivation to explore the unknown of God's creation
Fear of the Unkown: Fear of the Unkown can be the fire that fuels ones motivation for adventure, you never know what's coming (the fear), but you can't stop it from coming so we must take the opportunities we're given.
Adventure: Hobbits are not known to go on adventures and Bilbo eventually accepts his fate and goes on the adventure. People do things out of their comfort zone all the time, and we must accept these opportunities.
Bravery: Bravery is a persons will to stand up for what they believe in even if they are fearful of the result. So, Bilbo is presented with these expectations from Gandolf and the dwarves, and even though he doesn't see these traits in himself, he acts bravely and rises to the occasion.
