Article/Artifact

    I like how you connected it to gandulf showing up on the doorstep to the guy showing up at the kids house. He thought it was for something good and it turned out to be something bad

  3. Emma- agoraphobic woman who finally steps outside for the first time in 20 years, got married in her living room. Brought in a leash to symbolize attachment, but you're just one click away from being free from your fear. Connects to how bilbo finally overcomes that fear.

    Jack- piece of bland piece of paper representing Bilbo, because he has a predictable life, so then on the other side of the paper is an exciting world, like what Bilbo finds when he finally leaves. Article about two guys going on a kayak adventure to somewhere in Antarctica, and the idea of going somewhere you've never gone.

    Mike- article about Obama hailing the people who went on Apollo 11 for their heroism, artifact is a tshirt from 9/11 to represent the people who were heroic for what they did. Connects because Bilbo is expected to be the hero of the adventure, so he has to rise to the occasion.

    Nick- Article about finding a really old sword that represents the sword Bilbo finds and all the magic power it holds.

  4. Greta- Take opportunities that come. Accepts what comes and role with the punches. Bilbo takes the opportunity Gandalf gives him. Put faith in a higher power with God and go with his plan.

    Nick- Finds a sword, like Bilbo finds a sword. Finding swords is cool.

    Mike-Awarding for heroism. Going on the journey was cool and heroic. Fire fighter shirt, heroes helped rebuild city. Bilbo is supposed to be amazing hero, he can rise to the occasion.

    Jack- There's more to life than doing the same thing everyday. One switch and you can change your life. New adventure and going through different things to achieve a great adventure.

  6. Greta: bible as artifact, people have faith in the plan a greater power has a plan for them. Article, kid had sulfuric acid poured on his face. The kid overcame this hardship and pushed through life after all the surgeries .

    Emma: agoraphobia-fear of leaving your house, a lady stepped out of her house for the first time in 20 years, and got all the way to her mailbox. Artifact- leash. Being held back, once unhooked you can run free

    Mike: barrack Obama awarding Apollo 11 explorers. For goin out to the moon. Artifact- shirt 9/11 heroes, bilbo was expected to be a hero and he steps up to the challenge and becomes the burgler that the dwarfs needed

    Nick: article, a man got a sword. Bilbo found the sword in the cave where shmeagle lives.

    Article: Her article was about a little boy who had sulfuric acid thrown at his face and how he was able to overcome living with no sight. This connects to the book because Bilbo Baggins has to overcome the challenge of going on an adventure.
    Artifact: She brought in the bible because it helps people find their faith and how that helps them overcome their own challenges.

    Emma
    Article: a woman who hadn't been outside in 20 years due to a phobia. But she took an online class and went outside for the first time. This connects to the book because Bilbo was able to his silence his fear of going on an adventure.
    Artifact: she brought a leash symbolizing the connection to the house and all she had to do was take a class to "un-clip" the collar.

    Jack
    Article: His article is about a man who embarks on a 1500 mile kayak journey and that relates to Bilbo because he is chosen to go on an adventure.
    Artifact: A paper that is blank on one side symbolizing Bilbo's life before an adventure. But on the other side of the paper, it becomes very unique, like Bilbo's life after he accepts the adventure.

    Article: It is about a man with a sword. This relates to Bilbo because he gets a very unique sword that can perform many tasks.
    Artifact: None
